PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE

This is a general guide to caring for pleated products. For product-specific care instructions, please refer to the “handling precautions” and “washing instructions” that can be found on the product label. With proper care your products will be wearable for a long time.

About cleaning

Place the product in a laundry net and machine wash cold (up to 30°C) on a short cycle, or hand-wash by pressing the item lightly, using detergent that does not contain fabric softener. After washing, gently spin or squeeze out excess water, arrange the product in the direction of the pleats, and hang to dry in the shade in a well-ventilated area. We recommend washing the product after every wear to maintain the pleats for longer.

About storage

Roll up the garment along the direction of the pleats for storage. Store it in a dry place and avoid stretching or applying pressure. Avoid hanging the product on a hanger for long periods to prevent altering the shape of the pleats.

Precautions

  • Do not dry clean.
  • We recommend using detergent that does not include fabric softeners as these can soften the pleats and shape of the product.
  • Please do not tumble dry, iron or steam pleated products as the pleats are not heat-resistant.
  • Do not wear a pleated product for a long period of time if it is wet and do not apply pressure to the pleats while they are stretched, this can alter the pleats and shape of the product.
  • Due to the nature of the products, we cannot recommend alterations of the length of sleeves, hem etc.

About PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE pleated products

It is common practice to create pleated products by first applying pleats to a fabric, which is then cut and sewn. For PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, the fabric is cut, sewn and shaped before pleats are applied, resulting in a different finish. For this reason, some garments may have press marks on the front and back of the body and sleeves, please note that this is not a fault but a characteristic of the manufacturing process.
